COMPUTERWORLD, OCTOBER 15-21, 1999 SOFTWARE, PAGE 7 By Solomon S Emanuel Solomon to bring CRM to smaller firms Later this year, when Solomon Software expands the capabilities of its Solomon IV business and accounting software to include a customer relationship management (CRM) module, the vendor hopes that this will ultimately result in more mid-size firms embracing CRM. At the same time, the module will bring the product’s functionality beyond the finance department of a firm, said Patrick Shannon, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Solomon Software. “It will extend Solomon IV people in sales as well as other staff working from outside the office,” he said. “The focus is on sales, call center, help desk, sales management and pre-sales relationship staff. Integration in the product is key. If a call center staff completes a chargeable call, it should go to the accounts department (automatically).” The CRM capability is targeted at firms having between 10 and 1,000 employees, Shannon said. Soon after CRM rollout, a human resource module is expected to be released. Shannon hopes that the two enhancements will open Solomon Software to new customers. “The strategy is to expand our markets,” he said. Shannon stressed the company’s commitment to the region. “It is important that Solomon must be successful in Asia. We want to continue to open offices throughout the region in places such as China, India and Japan. For this, we will follow our Singapore model of opening affiliate offices. Windows-based Solomon IV includes Financials, Distribution, Project Management, Payroll, Light Manufacturing, and E-Business modules, in addition to complementary applications provided by independent developers.
