Solomon Software Unveils e-Business Product Initiatives Giving Customers Flexibility to Make e-Business Everyday Business

Singapore – March 15, 2000 – Solomon Software Inc., a leading provider of midmarket financial and business management systems, today unveiled details of its five e-business product initiatives, based on the company’s e-business strategy of delivering a foundation of essential business applications that are tightly integrated with Internet functionality. These e-business product initiatives have the unique advantage of giving small and medium sized businesses the flexibility to make e-business a part of their everyday business, so that as their needs change, new technologies are introduced, or the market evolves, they are prepared to meet the challenges ahead.

Key to Solomon’s e-business product initiatives is the Solomon Desktop, a browser-based portal that connects all employees and business partners within an organization to the Solomon IV® suite of business applications. The Solomon Desktop gives Solomon users the flexibility to access 100% of Solomon’s transaction and reporting capabilities available anywhere in the world via the Internet. In addition, Solomon Desktop enables knowledge workers to personalize their desktop based on their most commonly used job functions, providing secure, “browser friendly” viewing of reports and other key business information, while masking the complexity that resides in the underlying technologies.

"We have a 20 year tradition of offering unparalleled flexibility to our customers in everything we do, and e-business is no exception. Our customers don’t want to worry about the technological complexities that can prevent them from getting their job done effectively and efficiently,” said Michael Rupe, president and CEO of Solomon Software. “Our goal is to remove that complexity from their business, and to ensure businesses have the flexibility to fully embrace e-business.”

“In addition, our customers want to securely distribute key business data over the Internet, so even remote and mobile workers have immediate access.  For example, project managers need the ability to enter project time and expenses while at a job site, CEOs need secure access to financial data on the Web site, and remote workers need immediate access to data at their desk or on a plane.  Solomon’s e-business products can easily meet these needs; giving companies the flexibility to make e-business everyday business,” continued Rupe.

Five core initiatives make up Solomon’s e-business product strategy. The products that are available today and those that are developed in the future will be centralized around the following key Solomon e-business initiatives:

1. eFoundation. Solomon eFoundation is the backbone for enabling organizations to process critical transactions and information related to all key aspects of their business. eFoundation includes more than 50 tightly integrated Solomon applications, organized into seven core business series: Financials, Payroll, Distribution, Manufacturing, Project Accounting, Service, and Relationship Management.

eFoundation also includes Web Self-Service, a collection of Web-based applications that complement Solomon IV by providing Web-specific functions to many of the Solomon IV modules. Applications in the Web Self-Service Bundle include Web Employee Inquiry, Web PayrollTime, Web Vendor Inquiry, and Web Customer Inquiry. Additional applications planned for the future include Web ProjectTime and Web ProjectExpense.

2. eStore. The key to success in transitioning to e-business is to make it easy for customers and partners to buy products or services over the Internet via a Web site – and have these transactions integrate with core applications already in place.  Products in Solomon’s eStore initiative enable businesses to integrate the Solomon eFoundation with their Web site(s) to create an easy browser-based buying experience for their customers or business partners.

The Solomon eStore initiative includes Web Order (previously known as Web Commerce) and other products currently in development that enable simple selling over the Internet for business-to-business and business-to-consumer transactions.

3. PartnerLink.  With more businesses buying and selling over the Internet, there will be more opportunities to directly link to the computer systems of customers, suppliers, and service providers to streamline ordering, invoice processing and other key transactions with these partners. Solomon PartnerLink increases transaction efficiency by connecting the business systems of one organization with the systems of their business partners.

Solomon PartnerLink applications include eCommerce Gateway – BizTalk and EDI Editions.

4. MyView.  The key to effective and efficient knowledge worker productivity is to remove clutter and enable responsiveness. MyView products, including Solomon Desktop, empower employees and selected business partners with secure, easily configurable, browser-based access to all the information and transactions managed by the Solomon eFoundation.

The Solomon MyView initiative also includes other products currently in development that provide additional personalized access via wireless hand-held devices.

5. eTools.  With the Internet and Web continually changing and evolving, the best return on investment is to make technology and architecture decisions that maximize adaptability.  Adaptability, personalization, flexibility, and Microsoft-centric architecture are at the forefront of Solomon’s eTools initiative. Solomon eTools are optimized to enable customization to meet unique and ever-changing requirements, and to facilitate easy integration with other e-business applications and processes.

Solomon eTools are comprised of Solomon’s Internet Development Tools, Customization Manager, and Solomon IV Tools for Visual Basic.
