The cost-effective and efficient way to ERP

Solomon Software’s new ASP initiative to be launched in Malaysia this week

PETALING JAYA : An application service provider (ASP) initiative to help medium size organizations deploy enterprise resource planning (ERP) in a cost effective and efficient manner will be launched in Malaysia this Wednesday.

The ASP initiative, to be introduced by Solomon Software South East Asia Pte Ltd, will enable these organisations to outsource the management of their business systems.

The ASP will also help remove information constraints, reduce risk, enable growth and adaptability and increase enterprise-wide returns on investment, said Laurent Dedenis, general manager of Solomon Software South East Asia.

“Under the ASP model, a vendor provides applications and related services over networks to speed up implementation and minimise costs and risks associated with the entire life cycle of the applications,” Dedenis said.

He said the tremendous growth in the use of the Internet, increasing mobility of the workforce, and the explosion in the ways businesses use information to stay ahead of competitors have contributed to the growing acceptance of ASP.

He added that Solomon targets to have between 25 and 30 new customers using the ASP model by the end of this year.

Dedenis said that many small and medium size companies have realised the benefits of outsourcing the responsibilities of managing their financial and operational systems through an ASP model.

“Solomon’s experience in providing solutions to improve business performance is a natural progression towards this ASP initiative which will offer our customers a higher level of business returns,” he added.

He said that users can subscribe to the ASP model as it can be configured to provide an interface between the vendor and customer.

“This solution is more flexible as it is not attached to a specific application and users can rent applications to suit their requirements,” added Dedenis.

Solomon is in partnership with organisations which are industry leaders in the respective technology they offer.

“Citrix Systems application server software will assist in centralising the installation, deployment and administration of applications over any platform or client device and SWsoft will provide advanced engineering support,” he said.

Dedenis added that the use of 1-Net Singapore nationwide broadband network will provide high-speed access to organizations.

Solomon Software business management systems is exclusively optimised for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 on the Windows NT and BackOffice platforms.

Solomon has also recently announced that its core business product Solomon IV (r) is introducing a service pack that will give users the ability to leverage the benefits of Microsoft Windows 2000.

This was announced at the Windows 2000 Launch last week.

The combination of Solomon IV and Windows 2000 will enable small and medium size businesses to enhance their Internet capabilities, allowing them to unravel the mystery of e-business and make e-business everyday business, added Dedenis.

‘To many of our customers, e-business means more than just operating a store front on the web,” he said.

“E-business means having the ability to do business with their partners over the Internet and to communicate with their employees, such as sales representatives who are not necessarily connected,” he added.
